System Description
The ASM kit K5505-0000-00 is interfaced with the aircraft’s Autopilot, Compass, Air Data System HSI and ADI displays. The ASM kit will provide switching so that GPS navigation information can be displayed on either the Captain’s or the First Officer’s flight instruments. The switching also provides each pilot the ability to individually select either VHF or FMS data to be displayed. The UNS-1K FMS can be used to supply navigation information to the autopilot and onside instruments when FMS information is selected for display. Interface to the aircraft instrument displays is accomplished by two (2) FMS Navigation Switching Units, which are controlled by one (1) switching annunciator and monitored by three (3) message annunciators installed in both the Captain’s and First Officer’s instrument panels. The switching units also provide for coupling of the FMS roll steering signal to the flight director and Autopilot. The annunciators provide for control of the navigation display selection as well as message annunciation for situations that may require pilot intervention. Flight plan selection, data input and system monitoring is accomplished via the CDU mounted in the forward pedestal. New wiring harnesses and sub assemblies complete the modification.
